feature articles & blogs

I’ve been drawn to the topics of career and personal finance since graduating from college and entering “the real world” in 2009. Suddenly the choices I was making with my career and with my money became incredibly important. To make sure I limited the number of mistakes I made in both areas of my life, I sought expert advice online and applied it whenever possible.

In 2010, I began blogging on both topics for fun. In 2013, I began blogging on these topics as a full time freelancer.

Between then and now, I launched Life After Teaching, a career transition eBook and blog for teachers, and I continue to field questions about the job hunt from around the world. And in 2014, I became a volunteer Financial Peace University coordinator at my church in Richmond, VA. Each of these experiences have had a powerful impact on the way I guide my career and financial choices, and each provides an endless supply of fresh ideas, insights, and blog posts to help others make good decisions, too.

In my business life, I live by strict deadlines, SEO best practices, and the organizational powerhouse Google Docs. In my writing life, I work hard to present career and finance best practices in an understanding and relatable way. Read on for a selection of writing on the topics of career and personal finance:
